This patient is a 50 year old female who presented to my office with interest in facial rejuvenation. In particular, the patient felt she had a "tired" appearance, and was also unhappy with the heaviness of her upper eye lids.
I felt that a subcutaneous browlift would give this patient the best results with regards to surgery. This procedure involves two modest incisions along the hairline above each brow with dissection continuing underneath the skin but above the forehead muscle, thus minimizing the risk of nerve injury and reducing the invasiveness of surgery.
I also felt that this patient would benefit from an upper blepharoplasty (upper lid rejuvenation) in order to improve her overall appearance. In the operating room, I removed a moderate amount of excess skin and fat in order to sharpen the appearance of her lids without giving her a "surgical" appearance
Finally, I recommended Juvederm, which is an injectable filler, to add volume to her upper lip and smooth out the patients marionette lines (creases that run from her nose to the corners of her mouth).
This patient was very surprised how little soreness she had after surgery, and she was extremely pleased with the natural, rejuvenated appearance of her face.
