This patient is a 51 year old female who presented to my practice with interest in revision breast surgery. This patient had saline implants placed by another surgeon many years prior to her visit with me, and she wished to have more proportionate and natural appearing breasts.

I recommended exchanging her saline implants for fuller silicone gel implants, and I also recommended internal pocket reshaping to improve the positioning of the implants. This patient had severe scoliosis (curving of the spine) and I explained this would add a further challenge to achieving breast symmetry.

In the operating room, I removed the patients old implants, which were 200cc textured saline implants overfilled to 240cc. These implants were dispropotionately small for the patient's chest. I exchanged these for Mentor smooth round high profile cohesive silicone gel implants. Due to the asymmetry of the patient's ribcage as a result of her scoliosis, I used a 450cc implant on the right and a 375cc implant on the left for the best symmetry. I also had to perform a significant amount of reshaping of the internal pockets, and release of old scar tissue to create the most natural appearance for her breasts.

The surgery went extremely well and the patient recovered without any difficulty. She and her husband were thrilled with the improved and more youthful appearance of her breasts.
