Beverly Hills Nipple Reduction Surgery
Dr. Cohen can perform a nipple reduction procedure either by itself or with other treatments. This surgery is done to improve the appearance of protruding nipples, and is achieved with incisions that are barely visible.
As opposed to inverted nipple correction, since nipple reduction has minimal impact on the milk ducts, it is unlikely to affect breastfeeding.
Am I a candidate for Nipple Reduction Surgery?
Those who are in good health and have a realistic understanding of the limitations of a nipple reduction surgery make ideal candidates for nipple reduction in Beverly Hills.
Surgical details about Nipple Reduction
Dr. Cohen will make small incisions at the base of the nipple itself and will remove surface skin all the way around the base. He will then ”telescope” the nipple into the areola, thus shortening the nipple length and reducing the diameter. This improves the overall balance of the nipple and areola in order to achieve optimal results. Dissolving sutures are then used to close the incision, and gauze dressings will be placed over the breasts.
Recovery from a Nipple Reduction Procedure
A surgical bra will be placed over your breasts after your nipple reduction procedure in order to make sure that they are set for ideal healing.
Patients are typically ready to go home shortly after the procedure.,
During the first 48 hours afterward, you may feel some burning or soreness. Dr. Cohen can prescribe pain medication for this. Any bruising will usually fade in two weeks.
Please note that your breasts may heal differently. One may swell, while the other does not; one may be more tender than the other, or they may appear to be shaped slightly differently. However, when you have fully healed, your breasts will generally look symmetrical, with attractive and natural results.
What to expect with Nipple Reduction Surgery
Patients may experience numbness, swelling, or tingling in the nipple-areola area after the procedure. This is normal and will go away within six weeks of the surgery.
In order to help with the healing process, it’s best to sleep on your back for the first week after surgery, as well as making sure to wear the special surgical bra at all times for the first few days.
A softer sports bra can be worn the first two weeks after the procedure. Keep in mind that it should even be worn while you are sleeping so that it can help hold your breasts in the proper healing position.
The scars on your breasts from the procedure should be protected from sunlight exposure for at least one year after surgery.
When you can return to normal activities
In most cases, you will be able to return to work or school within a day of your nipple reduction surgery, and you can continue driving within a day or two of your surgery.
Strenuous exercise can begin about 2-3 weeks after your surgery, but keep in mind to only continue with your exercise regimen once you feel ready.
Do not go without a bra for at least six weeks after your surgery. You don’t have to wear one while you’re showering, but any other time, you should be wearing one.
